Hi all

my wife and i have just bought a caravan of the internet, for the first time as we want to try the conversion to caravans from tents as we want to go away more often throughout the year

we are going to look at it on sat morning in wisbech, Cambridgeshire but we are coming up from portsmouth, which is a 3 and a bit hour drive.

The caravan we are hoping to get is SWIFT CORVETTE 4 BERTH but as we are newbies is there anyone in that area with the knowledge to have a look at the van with us to give us some advice, and that we wont be wasting our money on it

303

please offer any help that you can with this

martin

Get a damp tester and have a play with it before you go.  We had A corvette just like that one when they first came out.  A common problem was damp on the front upper corners - ours suffered and was fixed under warranty at the time.

If you have a friend or someone with a caravan, not a bad idea if they would come with you to help check it out, its a long way to go then find its a pig in poke, but I wish you well when you go up to look at it.

Apart from checking for damp, make sure all cushions are there, including ones for the bunk bed, get the owner to show you everything working, ie lights, pump, fridge on electric and gas as these items can be expensive to replace and difficult to source on an older caravan. Make sure you also get everything included that was indicated in the sale, awning, water containers, battery etc as this again can set you back a good few pennies if you have to purchase separately.

Hope you enjoy your first caravan as we did.
