Lucky you - your Hymer looks lovely! I'd love a Hymer too but too heavy for our car, which we've only had a year and won't be changing it - we love it! We love our current van, Addy, but next week going to look at Geist in North East! October half term will be the first time our eldest won't be coming with us and we're beginning to think about a fixed bed van 'ac' (after children)! We did want a Hymer first choice, have looked at the Adria Adora and Adiva and want to see the Geist range. Have never had an urge to buy British (unfortunately).

I bet you can't wait to go away!

No, that's not my towcar...the Freelander pulls it just fine, even in that awful windy weather on Saturday.  The pictures were taken by the previous owner.  Just have to be a bit more careful now when loading everything and not take too much stuff.  We put the heavier things in the car anyway e.g. awnings, aqua rolls etc. and find this helps.

Yes Lassie, can't wait to go away at half term.  The Hymer is such luxury for us.... heavier I know but not too excessive.

We looked at the Geist vans and were impressed but just couldn't find a good used one in the layout we wanted. The Adrias look nice too.  Friend of mine had an old Adria and even after 12 years, it was dry as a bone.  The dealer went over it with a fine toothcomb when she traded it in and found no damp at all.

Ta much.  We are more than pleased.  Seller threw eveything in as well, including awnings, trolley jack, and a tele.

Hours of endless fun sorting through the stuff, putting our things in etc.  (OH is being very strict with me on this score...keeping the weight down) but I am determined to keep it clutter free and just to pack the essentials.

We would have bought a Geist if we had found one and you weren't selling yours Gaz!

No its not built on any framework of any material. Hymer used a space frame for the Eriba micro vans and still do but the "full size" vans have no framework.
The structural strength of the body comes from the panel construction; thicker ally than typically used here [except new Pegasus], polyurethane foam and ply inner lining. They do locally insert bits of galvanised steel plate in the foam for improved screw fixing at high stress points and wooden battens in the roof.
The front and end are alloy so not the dreadful ABS.
They are first class vans.
Our 545 was on a 1700kg chassis for the UK, down rated 1650 ones were supplied on the continent as these often were shy of kit.
Lovely van as it is have you checked the weight match? If your Freelander TD4 is a Mk1 which was 1620Kg it means you are towing at an eye-watering 105% MTPM/kerbweight.

No have checked it out.  The Freelander is a 53 plate - with the BMW engine  2 litre auto.   Comes out at 92% and managed quite well with it on Saturday with the van loaded to the hilt and in a force 9 gale.

Hope we have this right JTQU.   If not, very expensive mistake.  I'll have to pop out and buy a Disco
