I have an '05 Elddis Crusader Hurricane 2 berth. All in all I'm pretty pleased with it. BUT - the number of times I've skinned my knuckles trying to roll the bed slats away! They come out and extend along the gap between the bunks very easily, but when I try to put them away, they stick somewhere underneath the front cupboard and need a lot of force to put them away, pushing, pulling, cursing - nothing seems to help. I don't fancy putting oil or grease on them as I don't want to get it all over the bed cushions. Anyone got any ideas?
dont force it and just make sure each slat drops into place in the cupboard before pushing the next into place.we had the same on our avante and doing it the way described eliminated the problem.

I've tried being gentle - no luck. It seems as if it might be just one particular slat (the third or fourth I think) that seems to cause the trouble. It doesn't look any different to the others. I'll try a bit of lubrication on the runners, see if it'll carry the lubricant down to the 'sticky bit'. If it doesn't work, I think I'll need a bit of lubrication myself!
I put a big heavy clip on each webbing and lifted the centre cheast up a little and they now go in a lot better
Pull the drawers out to put the clips on at the webbing
Thanks for the tips. I don't really want to use solid wood instead of slats because I think that the cushions 'breathe' better when on slats. I noticed on an older caravan that I had (which used the table as the centre-filler) that in the morning there were often damp patches on the table - and no, I'm not incontinent!
I don't know if pulling the drawers out will let me get at the slats, I'll give it a go.
