Just wondered if anyone on here had a Senator Arizona model? We have one but have yet to see another on a campsite - we bought ours this year after our old banger got damp and turned into a sponge.
We love our Arizona - it's only a 2002 model but the previous owner looked after it well and it looks like new. The furnishings aren't garish, the fixtures and fittings are attractive and well-designed, in fact it's nicer than my house!!!
When we were in Dorset last week every other caravan we saw was a Senator (honestly, we are a bit sad, we went Senator spotting) but none was the Arizona. Must be unpopular?
Anyone got one? Anything we need to look out for? So far this season it's behaved like an angel so hopefully it'll last longer than our old one did!
The only dilemma we've had...it doesn't have a bin...or space for one! Where does it go????!
Sorry don't have the same caravan but in our old 'van we had the same problem. For weekends i'd hang a carrier bag over the wardrobe door handle for the bin. If we were going for longer i'd take the large kitchen bin from home and that either went in the awning or left outside close to the van door if we didn't use the awning.
In our new 'van we have a bin on the door but i think i'll still end taking the large kitchen bin from home as i find it easier. I just recycle as i go along

Hello Tigerseye. We had the Arizona, bought new in 2002. As I recall the waste bin was attached to the inside of a cupboard under the sink. when you opened the cupboard, a mechanism opened the lid of the bin. We took it out as we found the space more useful. No problems with van, except the front cracked around the front hatch, also we got fed up of making the bed up. We did 5639 miles with that van and used it for 183 nights. We traded it in for the Oklahoma in 2004 (fixed bed)...Brill.
I think the post from Laurie sums it up. The Arizona is the traditional rear washroom 4 berth/side dinette. We now apear to be in the era of the fixed bed, hence the Arizona is in the minority of the Senators that are to be seen. We have an 05 Arizona for the simple reason the two front bench seats are long enough to be used as single beds. As there are only two of us we leave these made up and use the side dinette for eating. We still use the beds to lounge on, watch tv etc although the long backrests are stowed away in one of the wardrobes and we use several cushions as backrests. I've also removed the centre chest at the front to give extra room at the pillow end. TV goes on the centre cupboard. As for a waste bin, on the inside of our door is a elasticated net which is designed to hold magazines etc, to this we attach with two clothes pegs supermarket carriers, find this works quite well. The reason we opt for two singles is, as you get older you find that visits to the loo during the night become inevitable and this way neither disturbs the other. We are both disabled to a degree and need the large washroom and therefore find the Arizona suits us perfectly. Have an extra Heki roof light fitted smaller than the main one and towards the front of the roof. Also fitted exterior folding handrail to the door way and a Powertouch motor mover so it is completely geared up for a couple of old crocs. I only hope Bailey don't abandon this layout as I fear they might with the popularity of fixed beds. Enjoy you Arizona,........YOU ARE NOT ALONE.................Mick
Well I am glad there are fellow Arizoners out there! We love the layout too though we wondered if this model had been replaced with more fixed bed models, though we didn't want that because we have dogs, and the side dinette is permanently made up as their bunk so it keeps them off the floor!
We liked the front beds too as we leave them as two singles and don't bother making the bed up - we tend to fall asleep in front of the TV so it's very handy!
As for the bin dilemma - our oven is below the sink so I can't imagine the bin being there originally!!! And we have the sliding fly screen on the door so if a bin was there the screen wouldn't shut. We have stuck hooks on the wall there and hang carrier bags off them, and recycle most stuff anyway. But it is a puzzle. All that kit, and no bin!!!
I'm glad someone else loves the Arizona. It suits us perfectly and the squares/circles/desert colours of the upholstery I think are really attractive.
I'm also mad about the rear washroom (our old van had the tiny portaloo/shower combo!) because I can get dressed in it out of the way. I'm not disabled but I do have a bad back and there is loads of space for moving around.
It is in immaculate condition and was serviced and duly repaired every year by the dealer we bought it from, who are very good dealers. They gave us a one year Bailey warranty on it for this year and suggested we service it prior to that expiring in case we need anything fixed. Fingers crossed though, it will remain in good nick. We hope to keep it for years and enjoy it, we've used it 7 times since March and the sun has shone every time! Unlike last year!
Maybe it carries a bit of the desert around with it
We dont have the Senator but have the same layout in our Swift Charisma and it suits us perfectly. I love the end bathroom and the extra kitchen workspace. As for the side dinette, we have a 12 yr old who likes to camp outside in his own tent when the weather is good, but prefers to be inside when its bad, and who can blame him! So we have removed and stored the folding top bunk, making the bottom bed a couple of inches wider so it converts into a perfect single bed for him. We dont really have the early bedtime problem anymore as when we are on holiday he goes to bed about 10 o'clock and we arent much later, so the curtain is sufficient to screen him off. We dont mind making the beds up at night, it only takes a couple of minutes and we think its worth it to have the extra space in the van the rest of the time.
We have a 2006/Series Arizona which we bought when it was a year old. It did not look as though it had had much use.
We love the layout, especially the large rear bathroom.
A few problems fixed under warranty:
Water pump replaced
Regulator replaced
Battery charger replaced
Damp ingress on upper nearside, wall, under front roof join
Hopefully not much major left to fix!!??
We've had a centre light fitted near the kitchen sink as we found that end a little dark. We've, also, had Alko ATC and shocks fitted and changed the electrics to 13 pin.
We love our Arizona and have towed it all over the UK and 5 week summer trips to Pyrenees (2008) and French Alps (2009).

The previous owner had lots of things done each time it was serviced but they were all really minor things, like replacing a bearing, or a nut, or a handle and so on! So fingers crossed...
Would love to do a big tour for a few weeks or more but at the moment we can't do it. But we've used it loads and intend to keep using it through the winter too - in fact we get too hot if we have the heater on, it's a very cosy van!
Glad others like this model too, we were beginning to feel a bit lonely! I'm also glad we spotted it at the back of the dealer's lot, and picked it over the Ranger. We love it!
