We suffer tar on our vehicles every day in our job, I wouldn't buy a costly solvent if I wanted to remove tar from either of my vehicles. Some of them cost a lot of money. To remove spots of tar, a little drop of diesel on a rag or a small paintbrush will soften it so you can wipe it off. I'd polish the surface after removing the tar if I were you otherwise whichever solvent you choose to use will dull the shine.
