silly question but does anyone out there pull out the aerial wire bits on the side of a status530,if you get what i mean,we have not got a good picture yet when we have been away.someone told me to pull out the extension bits, but how do reach up there and does it really make that much difference?
They are JUst for overseas and not for use in the UK.
when you set up camp wak round the site and see which way everyone else has their aerial pointing and the angle it is at this way you can try and get a good picture.
Sadly one of the problems on the Sancerre (don't know about other vans) in that the arial is on the nearside (to the side of the door). One of our priorities on site is to put up the awning. Setting up the TV comes someway down the line. We have never used the telescopic bits of the arial - when we have got as far as sorting out the TV, the awning is already up and therefore we don't have a hope of reaching it.
The telescopic bits on the Status 530 are only useful for VHF TV. VHF TV is no longer transmitted in the UK so there is little point in pulling these telescopic bits out unless you like the aesthetic effect of course?
We have a Sancerre too and spend more time arguing over awning erection than TV reception :(
