I believe bigtimz was talking about fixed carpets in which case using a water based carpet shampooing system could cause problems.
I have fixed carpets and use a spray on foam type cleaner normally used for cars.spray on,agitate with stiff brush, leave for 5 mins and then hoover.
Yes Carlight . I cant see a way of removing the carpets without wrecking them and i am concerned that cleaning with a vax will damage the floor. I had not thought of using the foam cleaner type. I will try it out. Thankyou.
It's funny this one shouldcome up. I was recently thinking that caravan carpets never feel quite as substantial as they ought to be. I wonder if you use a Vax to often, whether it might help wear them out.
would do it summer time you are asking for trouble this time of year,it could take days to dry and the worry is it could go mouldy.this would mark your carpet and cannot be removed.just my opinion mind.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I clean mine with a Bex Bissel and have had no problems, but I do mine in the summer, as its been said, this time of year not worth taking the chance that it will not dry.
Mine are fixed, but there is a lino under them, they are factory fitted and are only foam backed, the van is 10year old, but the quality is good and they do come up clean, we have 2 springer.

You can safely shampoo the carpets, the floor is treated to be resistant to water.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
