I don't know anything about Safeguard, but check every detail of the policy e.g. what is classed as contents and what is classed as equipment; what security devices are required on the caravan; where you are allowed to keep it for storeage (and what security measures the insurance require for storeage); make sure you are not under insured; look to see what sort of reputation the company have got if you need to claim; are you insured new for old - and if that is the case make sure you are insured to the full replacement value of the van; it is useful to keep as many receipts as possible; keep a very detailed list of all the things you keep inj the van.
After having had a caravan stolen this year (we were insured by the caravan club, and they were very fair), I am now very careful to check everything. If you are ever unfortunate enough to have a van stolen, it can be a very time consuming process. We were very happy with the caravan club insurance.
