the people we bought the van of never bothered to change the cris details into their names,however its something id like to do for security and insurance reasons.but im at a loss as to how i would go about doing this.is anyone out there clued up on the rules regarding this?

I did it by writing to CRIS and enclosing a copy of the bill of sale. but in my case the person I bought it from was the person registered with CRiS.

In your case I think they will want to write to whoever they have as the registered owner and check who they sold it to and see if that agrees with who you bought it from. If you are sure you have good title then I suggest you ring CRiS and check. If you are not certain of title might be best to leave well alone.
