We're booked in at Beechwood Grange this weekend and I was wondering what the traffic is like at teatime where the B1237 meets the A64 now that the road improvements are completed. We've not been there lately as there was always huge jams at that particular spot.
The junction will be busy, but it moves. And I don't know how far round the 1237 the site is, but it it's beyond the A59 roundabout, that will be just about your biggest hold-up. Traffic in both directions on the 1237 at teatime is solid, but it keeps moving as long as nobody does anything stupid!
I am going to Rowntree Park soon. Coming down the A19 then on the ring road. I will have to use this section of the ring road, I take it it,s bad but what is it like getting into York?
I go to York a lot, the worse bit is rush hour and heading along the northern ring road esp west to east as it's not dual carriageway like the southern part is. Ironically coming up the A64 from Leeds/Tadcaster and on to York either Rowntree or Beechwood is fine!.
So although longer it might be better to avoid the north ring road as much as you can.
So am I right in thinking best way for me is to go down the A1 the East along the A64. Seems a long way but will give it a go if you think its quieter route.
well, just done the new improved hopgrove roundabout where beechwood grange is , much better than before as there are more lanes and traffic lights but there were alot of confused people getting in the wrong lanes.think it will be fine when people get used to the new layout but daresay it will still be chaotic at rush hour.it was 3pm when we were on it so not too much traffic.

Hi - if at rush hour I would. otherwise the new improved version might be worth a shot, however I have to say I think the approach to RP is better from the A64 in any event - and we do use it a lot, New Year being our next stay!
