Finally going to View the 2007 Bailey Pageant Bordeaux we fancy at the weekend.  I have followed advice on this forum regarding ownership etc and the van checks out in all departments.
Rang up HPI as the van is CRIS registered, the present owner is named at the address provided and there are no other interested parties finance etc.
Meeting the guy at his home then travelling with him to where the van is stored to view.
Service history is up to date with the latest one being this  Tuesday at a Bailey dealership so all should be fine on the damp / appliance front etc.
All original receipts etc are all available and i am assured the van is in mint condition.
If all is ok when we view and we can agree a price we plan to leave a deposit, draw up a receipt stating all items to be included a collect and collect the van at a later date and pay the balance by bankers draft on collection.

I think i have covered all bases , but would appreciate any advice on anything i may have missed.

Thanks in advance

Jim

Does the van have a complete service history - mainly for the purpose of upholding the Bailey warantee.  If you are purchasing the van locally, it would be worthwhile using the same people for servicing - they will know the van, and worst case scenario you can avoid a service department trying to blame someone else for a potential problem.  Is the Bailey dealership that is checking on Tuesday the place where the van is regularly serviced?  It shouldn't make a difference, but if it is, so much the better, I would say.  Other than that, I would think you pretty well have it covered.

Best wishes

Hi there, enjoy your new caravan, definately better in the colder weather than camping. We have a 2007 pageant monarch we bought from a dealer in May and we are really pleased with that. In fact someone in storage beside us is selling a Bordeaux 2007 but it is too heavy for our car. Hope you have fun

Thanks  Liz,

Wifey insisted on the fixed bed  and I beleive the bordeaux is 1300 mtplm giving me a figure with my kerb weight of 87% so should be ok , there will only be two of us using it so should be able to get that figure nearer to the low 80s

Have a good look at the tyres. Will doubtless have plenty of tread but the van has now been standing on them for 2+ years. possibly in the sun. Any signs of cracking yet. Tyres have gone up a lot this year.

should have been checked in a service but............

Viewed the van this morning on our way home from the NEC and loved it , mint condition all paperwork , warranty etc checked out.  It even had new tyres on it.

The guy is emigrating so the list of included items was endless ranging from awnings, hitchlock, wheellock, corner steady locks, water and waste masters, jack down to toaster , kettle ,cutlery , plates etc etc.

Managed to knock a bit off the price so all in all a good day ,hope to pick it up in the next two weeks and squeeze a couple of nights away before winter sets in.

Thanks for all the help in guiding me through all the potential pitfalls

From your description it sounds a really good deal.  It sounds excellent.  Enjoy your few night away - I'm sure you will.
