Hi everyone

Can anyone tell me what the sunncamp 390 proch awnings are like, is there plenty of room in them, and are they quite sturdy, we are looking at them for next year as they look quick to put up for a weekend.

Or are they to flimsy.

We had a Sunncamp 260 until recently which is identical but smaller. The 390 is a large full length awning and you will need 3.9metres of straight awning channel on your van but there will be plenty of room. They are relatively sturdy. Ours was up all through summer without a problem & friends left their 390 up without a problems.

The benefit of these awnings is the ease of erection. Very quick. It is a bit tricky to close the gap between side if awning & van.

I say we had one because when we took it down last month my hand went through the roof section which had become very brittle presumably affected by sunlight (we did have some!). Other friends had a similar awning - same material different make and had the same problem.

Ours was in its' second season. I think the moral is buy one if you want a quick & easy awning but don't leave it up all season. We have gone canvas now because we probably will leave it up

We've got a suncamp 260 as well. We love it. Have used it for 3 fortnght holidays so far with no problems at all. Its 8' square so has plenty of room for 2 chairs and small table. We got it because its easy for me to put up on my own. My wife is disabled.

To be honest, I think its better in winds than a normal awning. It bends and gives with the wind. Just make sure that all the pegging points are used, then none of them get strained. We will definitely will not be going back to a normal one. Even if it only last 2 or 3 seasons, its so cheap we can simply replace it. But somehow I think it will last much longer.

We have got the Sunncamp 260 and the Kampa 260. Must admit prefer the Kampa one. It is much more sturdier.

The Kampa 390 is slightly better made and much sturdier but cost slightly more but will stand up better to wind but neither is recommended for use in really high winds.

We hve a 260 - it's stood up to all sorts of weather in the 3 seasons we've used it!  It needs replacing now (the pole sleeves are wearing), but it HAS had heavy use in all weathers for 3 years.  If we hadn't seen a new lightweight porch awning at the NEC that we liked better, we wouldn't hesitate to get another 260. 

As had been said about the 390 - it needs a long length of straight awning rail (3.9metres) - if your awning rail is not straight for the full length of the awning, it won't fit properly and is much more likely to leak, or damaged by the weather.
