We are a couple and have the Lunar 640 which is the same size and have no issues with pulling it. Bonus is all the extra room in it.
Take the 3 hour drive otherwise you will never know, but make sure that you have a damp meter with you as it could be a flood damaged caravan and give it a thorough going over for any damp.
It looks like a lot of van for the money. The questions I'd be asking myself are:
1) Is it damp? In the dim and distant, I bought a brand new van that was damp and it was a continuing problem for many years. The van might be only a couple of years old and look great in photos on Ebay, but that doesn't mean that it isn't a soggy lemon!
2) Did the vendor buy it new from Glossop caravans or was it a previous owner? Why is he really selling the caravan? If he is a trader, the sale will be anything but reluctant.
3) Is there a warranty of any kind on the caravan - from Glossop caravans or the original manufacturer? If there is no warranty, I'd want to inspect every square inch of the van with a damp meter before making an offer. If you can't do that, then walk away - it might not be as cheap as you think.
As a rule, I'd avoid buying a caravan on Ebay - there are far too many stories of folks buying damp vans. I even have a friend who bought a van on Ebay - yes, it was damp (as most on ebay probably are)!! He went down quite a bit in my estimation when he sold it again on ebay, without mentioning the damp in the auction.
Some folks seem to think that different rules apply to auction sites and that it's down to the purchaser to make sure that the item is as desirable as it is painted in the auction description.
well i have come to my senses, and altho the van is lovely it wories me a bit that this van is 2 years old and had 2 owners already! also add to that the fact that avondale are out of business, and then the other thing that this van is in east yorkshire and what happened 2 yrs back? they had the floods and peeps bought vans to live in while their house got fixed up, it makes me very cautious.
that van has always been one that was my "lottery van" but in reality i have a lot of things that are steering me away from it. in real life i know the layout that i could live with far better
