Hi, I was just wondering what I can expect to have to buy on top of buying a brand new caravan???

I',m going to make myself sound daft now but..............

1:  Does a new caravan come with a battery?

2: Are all the water pump fitments the same, or might I need to buy another to fit certain vans?

3: Am I right in thinking new vans have now got different plugs to fit in your tow bar? We have 2 plugs now will we need to change it?

sorry for asking these but I need to budget for "extras" which I might have to buy ontop of the actual caravan price.

Thanks, Claire

1: Does a new caravan come with a battery?

Not usually with a UK van but comes with some German ones; its a freebie a dealer might well include to seal a deal.

2: Are all the water pump fitments the same, or might I need to buy another to fit certain vans?

No but spares are readily available; the right pump will come with the van.

3: Am I right in thinking new vans have now got different plugs to fit in your tow bar? We have 2 plugs now will we need to change it?

Yes the van now will come with a sigle 13 pin plug.

Adaptors are readily available if you don't chose to get your car changed over to this improved system.

We are in the process of buying a new van and we got a starter pack thrown in.  It included things like battery, gass bottle, aqau roll. wastmaster and some other bits.  The water pump, electric lead and step were already in the van.  I think the twobars are now one lead and you can buy an attachment (I think that is what the saleman said).  He did say that you do not need to change your towbar.

If you have a van already, there is a good chance that you will be able to use your old battery.  However, if you have a motor mover on your new van and diddn't have one on your old van, you may need a bigger battery.   The towbar electrics splitter cable is readily available from most caravan dealers.

Hi

We started out last yr with a new van and nothing else. Its the little things that you forget the cost of, however we put our oufit together for about £10K including van, the break down was something like below

caravan 8K - Adria Altea 542 UK, Awning £500.00, Water carriers £80, Living essentials £200.00 Chairs tables etc £200.00, Battery 120Ah £85.00. +other bits.

Managed to scrounge the gas bottles from the local tip so just had them refilled etc.but once its bought its bought and that it.

Enjoy. The enjoyment far outways the costs in my opinion.

Thanks everyone. That makes me feel better. At least i don't have to get a new tow bar just the adapter.

We've already got a van we're going to part exchange & have been camping for around 10 years but this will be our first "brand new" caravan! I just wsn't sure what to take out of our caravan before taking it in. Obviously I know to take out the stuff i bought myself but it was just stuff that came with the 2nd hand caravan that i should leave in or take out.

Just got to wait til Februay now then to collect it!!!!

Thanks
