We have a Powrtouch mover fitted to one axle of our caravan and have been advised to have a second fitted. Will we need a different kind of control or will the original one work both?
does the single axle unit manage OK. the reason i ask is that we have a single axle powrtouch on our twin (it is designed for a twin) and it manages OK for our requriements.
i understand that by having all 4 wheel drive this allows you to spin it virtally on it axis and up a steeper incline....but if you dont need to do this why add the extra expense.
the expense will be that you will need two additional drive motors and a new brain and controller to suit this as it will need to be compatible with 4 motors.
Speak to pwrtouch, they will tell you whats best.
Thanks, we had a problem with it, had the local Pwrtouch man to look at it, he advised us to have another fitted, said they were advised for all heavy twin axle vans. We don't need it for inclines but it would be useful to be able to turn it more tightly.
Mrs Bonce, about 5 years ago I had my existing two motor Powrtouch fitted to my twin axle van but as I hd given it a lot of work in the past and three new vans later I did a deal at the Three Counties show with the Powrtouch rep for the conversion of my current setup to be converted to the new this year of a four motor system.Ipaid at the show the princely sm of £500-00 pounds plus an extra charge for fittng. This was a binding contract that is why I paid. To my delight when all the kit arrived by carrier it contained 4 new drive motors as well. When fitted by the local Powrtouch fitter I was given a new fresh 5 year warranty. This includes the new type of control hand set and heavier 12 volt cables to the new type electrical operation box.The new units give a more powerful drive to the wheels as well as a pulsed drive action when making a tight turn with all 4 wheels. I have to turn my van at some where between 70/80 degrees out of my drive onto the road. In all I am intensly satisfied with Powrtouch and I would recommend as a company to do buisness with. Best of luck in your negotiations.I have no connections with the company only as a very satisfied customer.
