Going away on Saturday and have a hardstanding, how do I fasten the awning down.I will be using a porch awning, been told to overhang the van at the rear ,peg down ,then peg down the side ,but how do I fasten fromthe outside of the awning to the caravan along the front(along the concrete),many thanks for all responses.
We wondered about that the first time we booked hardstanding. So far all the hardstandings we've been on have been stoney rather than solid concrete. As alipalm says just use rock pegs and a lump hammer and you'll be fine.
Hi johnny5,I've never come across concrete hardstandings in 19 year's touring, I'm sure it will be stoney/gravel.I use pegs which look like 6" nails with a T-piece:buy a couple more than you need cause you'll bend some.I prefer a claw hammer you'll need it to pull the pegs out again!

Ive seen concrete ones. If Im putting my porch awning up I sometimes use bungee ropes to attach it (nearest the van)to something under the van like a steady or the wheel carrier.

Hi johnny5, I always wondered about this then in the summer we were booked on a site with concrete hardstandings. I positioned the awning so that the edge was just on the grass. The sides were then going to be a problem until I noticed what others had done. They had used their spare poles( if you have any) and thread them along the bottoms of the awning where the pegs usually went, this held the sides down from flapping. Seemed to work for them. I also used a few bungees to secure edges to the caravan chassis.
