Have stayed on a pitch where the hardstanding was paving slabs. didn't put up porch awning as couldn't line up with the gaps between slabs. Rock pegs were no use there.

I don't understand having a hardstanding pitch and putting the awning up on the grass! The main reason we use a hardstanding pitch is so that the awning doesn't get soggy underneath during wet weather. Had too many wet tent holidays and the resultant quagmire under the groundsheet!
