just returned from our local dealer who had a 534 on the forecourt.well, what a shed !

wet locker under the fixed bed living up to its name , half inch of water sat in it,all the gear in there saturated . the shelf under the front windows, pools of water forming where it was leaking through the bottom of the window seals.shocking !

2 overhead lockers that wont stay shut , catches not fitting properly.

bits of trim round the kitchen unit missing.

rough edges galore on base lockers openings , very poor !!

if ours is bad as that  on collection it will be rejected !!!

had to get the salesman to have a look and he`s straight onto Bailey tomorrow.

Looks like its the same poor quality expected of Bailey , got serious doubts now if it was a good idea to place an order.17

We looked at the Pegasus at the show, among a few others. We thought the Pegasus looked a lot better built than the rest of the Bailey range but like any revolutionary build really needs a couple of years to prove itself. The previous post doesn't look good for the Pegasus though hopefully it is just a few teething troubles and they will quickly sort it out. Given the price of the Pegasus is not that much more than a conventional Bailey then I don't see the overall build quality being much better. We are edging towards the Swift Charisma 550 although prefer the trim in some of the other Swift alternatives. We were put off the Swift a bit though by the fancy TV bracket that had jammed on one at the show. Quite liked the Bailey with the same layout but found the bathroom was a little bit small on the single axle version and I am a bit dubious about whether a twin axle will go onto our driveway. Nor do I want to be buying a new mover to fit a twin axle when I already have one for a single axle.

It is bound to have teething problems, I think you need to judge from the ones that are distributed to new owners rather than the prototype and dealer ones, as I have a feeling they've been rushed out to meet the opening of the new season's displays.

Well you have a 10 year warranty but I am pretty sure a major producer like Bailey would not ruin their reputation with such major faults?

Thanks, we can't wait to get it but shame we can't use it now til March!

Is there any catches with the "10 year warranty"??  I see it is actually a 6 year warranty with 4 years optional added for free!! I just wondered why they word it that way.

I would guess it is because it is an amendment to their standard 6 year warranty.

I wondered if they had a catch about servicing or something like that.

I would think the standard servicing caveats remain as they do for most manufacturers, specified dealership or NCC approved workshops etc.

Hi all, I am hoping that what I have read on here is just as Snowy says : teething troubles and we have just placed an order for the 514 model.

I am hoping that these are teething problems as they are bound to be slightly rushed onto dealers in time for the new launch but hopefully as orders come in (fingers crossed ) the builds improve !  but I guess the proof of the pudding will be in the tasting !

After 20 yrs of a tent any thing is going to be an improvement for us : running water no buckets and  not to mention : warmth !.

This is going to be our 1st van : so fingers crossed :  I am looking forward to sleeping on that big bed (it does look big in the brochure ) and those footrests !

He is like a big kid at the moment : waiting for Santa !

There's four of the Pegasus models at Bardsea Leisure in Cumbria and to be fair, they all appear pretty smart with nothing obvious such as Bev's mentioned.
There are a few features I don't like, such as the removeable-to-fill on-board water tank (put off one elderly couple straight away).

As for servicing, I understand to meet the warranty condition you're required to have all the fixing bolts checked/tightened at the three years service at an additional cost of £350; the internalcappings need removing for this and it seems it would be fairly time consuming.

This is not "a few teething problems"!!!!

This, from a van only delivered to a dealer and having never been used by anyone on an actual trip is certainly not going to have folks rushing to buy it.

Indeed.any manufacturer that puts such a badly flawed caravan out to a dealer, for inspection by potential customers is committing comercial suicide.

It might be a prototype, the first one down at Outdoor Experience was but they had put notices on it to say so.

you dont actually have to use that.take it out and have more storage space i think is a better idea than having one in there all the time that may not be used at all,at least you have a choice what to do.Ive no problem with any feature of the van just really concerned about the quality of the model we saw today.there was a 2 berth parked next to the 534 but was locked so didnt have a poke about in that.

one negative point over the design is the lack of an awning channel to the offside meaning no provision for rain deflectors to stop streaking 17

Sounds like the plan then, glad to hear you can do that as the dealer I spoke to didn't seem to think it was an option. How do you get your water in then, or do you have to leave the cabinet open to feed to an Aquaroll?

Like Bev, I'd have liked to have seen an offside awning channel, but the rest of the features were pretty good.

Our local dealer has one, it looked well finished -and we had a good look at it.

The salesman told us the internal tank holds about 25 litres, which is a fair weight to lift full into its box if you are elderly or small, particularly being low down.

He told us you can use an aquaroll via the external pont as per normal. We tend to use sites with no facilities, so have 2x 40 litre aquarolls which are handy when using the shower! The small tank would need filling far too often!
