This is the reply from trading standards;
your rights will be to claim :
1. a repair, or
2. a like-for-like replacement (same make, model, age, condition etc. although without any faults of course), or
3. a partial refund, taking into account usage.
Initially, if the trader agrees there is a breach of contract they are only obliged to offer the most economical remedy available to them, providing it can be supplied within a reasonable timeframe; without causing the consumer a significant inconvenience and will not significantly affect the value of the goods.
As such, if you can provide reasonable argument, that the method of repair offered by the trader, will significantly affect the value of the caravan, you would be within rights to decline there offer and pursue them for another form of redress. i.e a more extensive repair, or for the trader to replace the caravan like for like, or offer a partial refund, to account for the use you have had of the caravan.
I am not over confident that the repair being offered will be good enough.
