Hi
I've just been told that we will NOT be allowed to use blue cables on ANY camp site - is this true please?
Completely untrue. I have used my black one for the last 7 years without any comment whatsoever.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

As I said above, I've used blue cable for many years both in the UK and on the continent. I have never had a comment about it, and certainly never been told I cannot use it.
Hiya, Our new van came with a 15m blue cable but we had our old orange cable which is 25m , we were told that 25m is the max you can use but dont know how true this is??, anyway we've never had any trouble using either colour on any site we've been on.

The colour coding is as follows , yellow 110v , blue 230v , red 400v . how ever its the plugs and sockets that the colour really refers to .Orange is generally the accepted colour for electrical services in general which is why most commercially produced flexes on extensions are indeed orange . The colour of the flex is really not the issue its the actual size of the conductors that matter . All 3 cores need to be a at least 2.5 mm . Somebody mentioned in a earlier thread that the yellow flex is centre tapped ,is incorrect as it is the actual supply that is centre tapped at the supply transformer.
