Has anyone tried one of these re-chargeable dehumidifiers yet?

The one I'm thinking of buying, instead of crystals, is sold in a pair and costs approx £20. Just wondered if they were of any use before spending me pennies!!

They do work, my brother has them, but he lays his van up in the winter.

We use ours all year, but in the winter we just have common cooking salt in 2 plastic tubs. Makes a mess if you drive off and forget about them tho!

Bad idea, you can’t dehumidify the world when the device sucks out the moisture the air is replaced with the air from outside due to all the ventilation holes and grills.

do not agree it has to dehumidify the van first and keeps it dry and moist free how every much air comes in afterwards.

I see no need for a de-humidifier as all you are doing is taking the damp out of the air as it comes in.The bedding was soaking up the damp air. If there is nothing in van to attract it then it won't stay.

We turn our heat on a day before we go away just to air the van and this seems to work well.

So on that reckoning, you remove cushions, curtain etc, anything that will 'soak' up the damp? What a load of rubbish.

The guy asked a question and all you do is spout your own theories about damp!

each time you use the heating it draws in cold air anyway.each to there own as i say it works for us,as i said before...it gives the van a warm dry feeling when you enter.

The only trouble useing salt is, it can only absorb so much, then its stops, it goes rock solid and doesnt absorb water anymore, The crystalls last for 3 months, I have always used them no matter what anyone else thinks about damp etc. and they do the job for me. I have 8 baskets  around the van, All the seasonal vans use them where i am.and swear by them.

 I leave all cubboard doors open but i dont leave large doors open such like wardrobe doors etc, They can warp.In my manual its says that.

i will not do this with any door, because of any warping of the doors makes it impossible to close.a new lock only cost £5.i have seen doors like this in the dealers yard.

Arthur you are absolutely correct this has been talked about many times on here. If you dry out the interior of the van - it will simply be replaced with the exterior air coming in from the drop/ventillations holes, this renders the dehumidifier useless. But you cannot get this through to people so in the end if they do not take advice - that is up to them.
