Just picked up my brand new 2009 Lunar Quasar 626 and found a crack in the rear panel on the top where the roof meets the rear panel.
There seems to be a strip along the top which covers the two surfaces where they meet and it looks like the crack is coming from where one of the screws holds it on, it is around 2-3 inches long.
I have had this van only 2 weeks and I have only taken it to storage around 10 miles from dealer.
I am going to ring my dealer this morning so have you guys got any advice what I should do ?
Regards,

reject it out of hand, you not want the bother of it.send him the email photos first before you go and then you have a record of it.i can see two cracks not one.this will no doubt this will spread too.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I have had a similar experience, although a different manufacturer, it is caused by the screws not having been put in straight or screwed in to much. I am having to have a complete back panel replaced as you will also. I am not sure whether you can reject the van "out of hand" or whether you have to give the dealer the opportunity to repair it first. As you have had the van less than 6 months the fault is automatically deemed to be the dealers fault, you do not have to prove anything. Give Consumer Direct a ring to advise you whether you can reject the van or not, thats always assuming that is what you want to do in the first place.
Is it just me, but from the photos, that caravan looks a lot more than 2 weeks old. I would expect the sealant round the strip to still be clean, and the aluminium strip to be shinier than that. Wonder how long its been sat in their showroom yard?
Thanks so far guys !
The thing is I want the van but I am not happy about having to go through having a rear panel replace when I haven't even christened the van yet !
This is the 3rd problem I have found with it, warped wardrobe door and wrong fixed bed.
The dealer is being a bit shirty with me already as I have told them that if it is cracks as it looks to me I am going to reject it under not fit for purpose sale of goods act 1979.
Dealer says it might be just the gel coat?? but whatever happens I think it looks like it needs a new rear panel.
Has anyone else had a rear panel replaced and could you tell it had been done ?

Rejecting goods may be an option in your case but you really need to start formalising things by putting your concerns in writing to your dealer sooner rather than later. This Link to Consumer Direct tells you all you need to know at this stage.
By the way my dealer is also replacing the awning rails on both sides as well as the one across the roof as they all need to come off to effect the repair.
If the panel is(as the dealer suggests)glassfibre, the cracked gel coat is an easy repair. In the picture it looks like the sealant is coming away from the panel, again an easy repair. You could'nt reject a new car for a blemish on the paintwork. It would be repaired & you wouldn't know it had been done.
Its easy to suggest that you reject it(& you can try)but if the dealer & manufacturer offer a repair in a short space of time it might be better than a long drawn out dispute. In any case the caravan would be repaired & resold.
I am assuming the rear panel is ABS and not fiberglass.
Them telling me it was a gel coat crack I assume trying to pull the wool over my eyes !
I would probably accept a new panel but it would have to be perfect !!! and I would think some sort of compensation (new awning may-be !)
My first full weeks holiday is booked for February so I think they better be quick, what do you think ?
