I have a Ryno mover fitted to my Bailey Champagne that weighs about 1300 kilos empty. I find that when maneuvering on softish ground the jockey wheel has a tendency to dig in, even though it is quite a wide wheel and the mover can struggle to move the van. I keep the nose weight to about 75-80 kilos
I have heard that a pneumatic tyre would improve things. Has anyone found that a change of tyre has cured or improved the problem.
un fortunatly you cannot just change the wheel & tyre as a pneumatic tyre will not fit in the fork of your present jockey wheel. A pneumatic tyre is better for manouverability though But it is not advisable to buy the plastic wheel & tyre type as the tyre has been reported easy to roll of the rim during manouvers

When we bought our present van it had a pneumatic wheel and tyre already fitted, I have since replaced the tyre and tube due to slow deflation (aged) works well with my mover. It has a steel rim and I inflate it to 40lbs max, on the tyre wall it states a max of 50lbs, I have heard that a plastic type rim will not withstand these pressures, apparently they self destruct this is what I have previosly read on this forum.
We had an inflatable one at first and yes it improves traction and digs in less, it did deflate too easily and wore easily too. I've replaced it with a similar looking one but which is solid rubber - Towsure etc sell them and it works fine, no punctures or deflation with this!
My OH is thinking about changing the tyre on our jockey wheel for te same reason. He had asked me to post on this subject but i forgot so thank you for raising this! I'll pass it on to him.
Hi we just changed the wheel from a solid type to a inflatable one, just measure the dia of spindle bolt, width of fork sure its a standard size, them google jockey wheel, i had no problem fitting it saves buying complete jockey wheel.
got one and its much better for the mover BUT,i had to remove it as is was getting stuck under the A frame and no way could i shift it to lift it into the traveling position.so am back to using the old type.one main reason is the tyre being much fatter when lowered onto the ball i could not get the wheel out.this meant taking it off again to turn the wheel round to the required travel position.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I fitted one to my Senator Series 5 with no problem. It did sqeak on the fork arm but a little vasaline on the tyre wall did the trick and 2 years on it is still good.
We swapped our solid wheel for a pneumatic on our last van.
It performed a lot better with the mover but I had to remove it as we kept grounding on the local speed bumps, as it would not locate properly under the A frame.
I got fed up with this and swapped again to a wider but solid type.
An acceptable compromise!
