about double which reflects in the CC premium.caravanguard not alot more than CC on our old van and thats on new for old where our old one was market value.going to jump ship and go with caravanguard unless a phone call to CC yields a better result !!!
We got a call from caravan guard after ordering a new van at the show-the salesman asked if ithat was ok before passing our details to them- so not got a problem with that, however the call failed at the first hurdle when we aked for exactly the same cover, I started reading out the cover we had & they said that the awning cover was limited to £750. Not a problem for everyone I know but if you have a dearer awning not much use. I think he said no accessories could be covered for over this figure, so as with all insurance just check that the cover is exactly what you need. By the way we are with CC&C who seem ok on price & service. Again make sure you get all the cover you want & any conditions are acceptable to you, read the small print before signing up (as with any insurance).
See you all soon, Bernard
P.s.I know £750 sounds a lot for 1 item, but how much is a shiny new motor mover or a large full awning?
You do need to look at the cover carefully. As Bernard has said most CC policies have an amount built in to cover accessories and non standard equipment, is this the same with Caravanguard?
That sounds about right. But you have to look at the benefits of CC insurance. A bottle of olive oil fell out of a top locker in our van last year and dented the kitchen worktop. It needed a replacement worktop - total cost £500 to fit. It was all covered under the accidental damage cover of the policy.
In another incident, our mini-rooflight broke because of high winds - that was replaced under insurance.
Yes, it's not cheap, but you get no excess with thus policy, and in my experience, it's worth every penny.
We have our insurance through Towergate Baker (via the AA) we pay £300.00/yr for New for old on a 2008 Adria Altea 542 UK, with £100.00 Excess. The mover, awning and accessories upto £500.00 are covered. Value to repalce van with current model is approx £10,500.00, so in all about 12,000.00 cover. And we store it on a Cassoa Gold site. so not too bad me thinks. Weh ave had i claim and it was sorted within days with Towergate Baker, cannot fault them at the moment for level of service.
caravanguard is on new for old, caravan value £16400 , £1500 for associated equipment,ie mover / awning and £500 personal belongings and they are quoting £212 after a play with the figures.still £176 cheaper than the CC.
Having had a claim for a right off I can only sing the praises for caravan guard, I would not willingly move from them. They dealt with the problem quickly and very fairly, when it came to insuring the replacement van we found the old insurance was still in place and a minor adjustment was all that was required.
This I consider to be the ultimate test and they passed it with flying colours, good company, good prices, and good treatment as far as I am concerned.
the van comes with a tracker , alko axle lock and alarm plus we have the alko hitch lock so not really an issue.basically its the same as CC, you have the security gear it must be used when the vans unattended.
But the CC only ask for one security device whereas Caravanguard require a lot more. If the items listed above were not included I'm sure that Caravanguiard would have required some of them to be fitted.
