Hi Jax
Was just wondering whether you still have your Kip 300? I have recently rescued one from an uncertain fate and am currently working through all that needs to be done to bring her back up to scratch.
Do you possibly have any information of any description that you could email me? Any assistance you may be able to provide will be so much appreciated.
Thanks
Kind regards
Gordon
Hi Gordon. I'm afraid I sold my little kip about five years ago now. So I can't help with any specs or measurements, sorry!
I had to do a lot of work on my little kip to bring it up to scratch. I installed a Flipper mark 4 lever tap to replace the fibreglass? little water tank which attached to the back wall behind the sink to start with, and bought a proper water tank which sat outside.
Had all the electrics (including installing a consumer unit in the wardrobe) changed to uk standard. Had a little 3 way fridge installed into a cupboard space under the cooker.
I eventually changed the bed mattresses for something a little softer, as it was like sleeping on a board!) reclaimed from a caravan.
I had a new front window put in, which was made by ECCO, very expensive, but worth it, as it kept steaming up.
The worst thing was that it sprung leaks every now and again. This turned out to be the pop top roof, it needed sealing along all the edges on the outside.
I had the running gear all checked by a mobile caravan engineer. Who also checked the gas connections. I had this check done at least once a year. I changed the jockey wheel for a wider one, which helped a lot on the drive.
I also had a small motor mover fitted - that cost more than the caravan originally had done! but essential for me as, even though it was small and lightweight, it couldn't be easily pushed up a bank onto the drive.
I wasn't bothered about actually restoring the caravan to its original spec, I just wanted a workable, practical, safe and comfortable unit to holiday in.
On reflection, I really spent an awful lot of money on the caravan, but it was worth it, as I had a lot of great holidays in it. With the caravan and a drive away awning over the back, I had all the space I needed for myself, my doggie and a friend.
Let me know if I can help you in any way. Although I don't own the caravan now, I can still remember how I renovated it into something workable. :)
