We went a few years ago and like you had our concerns. We had a great time. We used the butane cylinders (blue ones) and had no insulation on our aqua roll but had no problems. I also noticed that no one else had any insulation on their aqua roll. Our gas locker is on the side too, right behind the gas heater which no doubt helped with the butane.
No one had a problem with their aqua rolls freezing asa I can testify after a small bin fire on new years eve following some fireworks. To put the fire out, the aqua rolls got emptied into the bin.

150pickup, wow, how wonderful! I'm very jealous. We'll have to make do with Scarborough (love it really!)
As long as you get away that all that counts This is our first trip to France in the winter so cannot wait.

Camping is a great way to ring in the New Year. I live in Canada where winter weather can often be severe, but that doesn't stop us! Most campgrounds here are not open during the winter, but those that are provide a complete snowplowing service throughout the park roads. They also clear a path into each individual campsite so that you can conveniently position your trailer and tow vehicle. Just make sure you have a good heater and lots of firewood.
Welcome to the site BB.
For your infomation Great Britain shuts down when we have more than an inch of snow......we do admire the hardy types however!
you are not mad we would normal be out in our van over the new year and it is great fun. this year we are not away over the new year but are off to London on the 7th and going to the France show at earls court and also going to do some wine tasting.
Booked today 3 nights at Parklands near Wisbeach, special deal with food and music on new years eve, at £50 for two people for three nights very fair i think. looking forward to it.

Very Jealous of you all being away at New Year, we did first time last yr and enjoyed it so much. We were booked into Lady margarets park for new yr but have had to cancel, due to unfair social services demanding my wife works new year. However we are out in early february so not too bad and just finished middle of november for 2009, can't wait to get the van back out too.
All have a good Chrsitmas and New Year and enjoy 2010 keep it safe..
