any help grateful just been up to wash my van at storage yard as of away at weekend to find 7 vans have been broken into the problem with mine is where the air vent for the gas is under the gas bottle locker the sods have unscrewed the vent and nicked somepart of the gas system it connects to the electric with a strip block as i can see. any ideas what this part is called sorry not to be too technical but van is a 1997 avondale orion any help much appreiciated as gas wont work without this part and its going to be cold if i get away this weekend thanks again .

sorry to hear about your van.we had some bad luck with ours back in the summer.i cant help with the name of the part im afraid but if you put another post in the repairs forum you may have more luck there.

cheers Al, it struck me it was the module but it took me a while before I twigged where the Avondale gas lockers are!

The missing part to give it's full name is a 'Carver Cascade2 Gas Burner Control Module'

There should be an aluminium cover plate fitted over the burner before the plastic outer flue cover goes on, make sure that's not been nicked as well?

Water heater is in the same place as always Michael...it's the gas locker that moves on Avondale's?

From my understanding of reading this it appears that the control unit and burner assembly of you Carver water heater has been stolen.
If you can find the gas isolator tap for this unit, assuming Avodale fitted one, then your van is viable to use as long as this isolator is switched off. [ It is essential that it is set to "off" otherwise gas will be leaking with all the associated risks].
The downside is you will not have hot water on tap a nuisance but does not have to be a show stopper, just use the kettle for hot water.

Stealing from other vans is getting quite regular it seems now, a few of the other forums I have seen recently are having a number of posts about parts being stolen whilst in storage. I have not noticed this before or perhaps I have just no noticed the postings so much in the past.

I have heard of the odd items going missing at commercial sites and a long while ago a certain popular site in Cornwall where you could get your ice packs frozen but you never got your own back even if you taped them up with yuor name on some little git would nick half of them.

We only use CC sites now so I guess that possibly Club owners go away more and respect others vans more than the once a year merchant.

Just my thoughts not intending to offend anyone.

got the burner today from secondhand caravan spares at castleford £60 fitted working fine thanks for the help everyone cheers be warm this weekend in york thanks again.
