Hello all,

We bought our first caravan last summer and are now looking to get an awning for it. The problem I have is that the awning length I need is 930cm and this seems to be a cut off number for quite a few awnings ie I can get an awning up to 930cm or from 930cm to 950etc. I'm just not sure should I get an awning with a maximum length of 930 or a minimum length of 930!

I hope this makes sense.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Nikki

It is difficult some times to get the right size, we have a similar problem, some companys make thier awnings different lengths but class them in a size group, call highbridge caravans and speak to thier awning department they will tell you what awnings will fit if you give them all the details, they have always helped us out.

I would get the slightly bigger one, its only 20cm so more room to manouvre but not too much excess to make it baggy!!

Take a look in the handbook for your caravan, it may have the size you need there

I have to second this.  I got a new caravan towards the end of last year, which needed a 1000cm awning, I went for the 975-1000cm awning rather than the 1000-1025cm awning.  Have only used it twice, The first time was fine, but we were on a flat pitch, the second time we were on a very sidways sloping pitch and struggled to get the awning to reach the ground properly.  I have bought some bigger awning ladder rubbers that will help add 2-3 inch's again if we have the same problem, but I would imagine that if we got the 1000-1025 awning that we wouldnt have had that problem.

All of that said, the awning was nice an tight and didnt collect water at all in some very heavy rain.  If I went for the bigger size I am not sure I would have managed to get it as tight.

I know its not much help but gives you a little insight!

I guess if the pitch sloped the other way (with the awning lower than the caravan) you would struggle to take up all the slack in the awning. My experience has been of having one a little too big which I could never tighten properly and collected water in the roof. I think on balance I would go for slightly too small than too large.
