My heading says it all! Brand new Lunar Quasar 09 bought in May. Went up to check on our caravan today for the first time since it went back into the dealers for warranty work. We took it into the dealers in october for a few things. The main thing being the centre chest worktop edge had filler on the very edge which was begining to crumble beside the edgeing strip. We decided that a replacement top would be the best option as having it refilled probably wouldn't last. OH duely took it in for the work and then silence, OH eventually phoned them. It's ready! OK he went to pick it up to find the lock for the front locker isn't working, no problem guy came and fitted a temp. replacement. Won't get one till after christmas, no problem we thought (husband can fit it himself, save dragging the caravan down).

Went in today to check and the first thing I notice.... the top of the chest is COMPLETLEY different to the rest in the caravan, different colour, pattern and even texture! The chest top slides out to form the table and the bit which slides out is the original. When it's fully out it just looks strange.

WHY would anyone do this? I could understand if the wrong top was ordered but they must have realised when they were actually fitting it onto a completely different top! Why did they think that would be acceptable. (can't even say it's shoddy workmanship 'cos the top fitted great, if only it was the right colour, pattern.... Crazy.

No wonder you are peeved off. I would be as well. What have the dealers said about it? Are they willing to replace with a matching one? Maybe you should contact Lunar directly to see what they can offer.

As to why anyone would do this.... well can only think whoever did it thought it didn't really matter.

Husband is off at the moment so is going in to see what they say tomorrow. Can't wait to hear what the excuse is.

I would be tempted to make a phone call to Lunar's head office.

I think that you have been more than patient and there comes a time when you have to say enough is enough!

Sounds to me like they've tried to fob you off and hoped you would just accept the repair.Time to phone head office I think.

I think that part of the problem is that, in many cases, the staff employed by dealers are youngsters who don't give a toss about your property.

I had a number of problems with my previous van and I think the average age of the workshop staff was in the region of 20, they had little of no interest in the job and just fitted the parts sent and just told the service manager job was done, the manager rings to say van ready, you pick it up and find that parts are damaged, missing scratched etc etc. Youngster shrugs their shoulders " nuffink to do wid me was like that when ya left it mate" attitude.

The only answer I have found is to check when you pick up your van and cause hell there and then, but try to do it when other customers around it does seem to have more effect.

Good luck sorting it out, I would start with Lunar head office.

The contract is between the dealer and the customer and not the customer and the manufacturer so phoning the manufacturer is probably a waste of time.

I agree.  Contact the dealer first - but try and be as 'controlled' as possible (at first, at any rate)!

Husband went to dealers armed with the whole chest! and came home with a new one fully matching. The workshop manager seemingly kept saying "who would of done that?" There's only him and a young guy so you do the maths. He also got the bed rails we'd been waiting months for (I don't think they'd even ordered them!) but when the boss went to see if the lock was in for the front locker turns out they'd been sent the wrong one (for a side locker). What a shower of idiots! Got to laugh! They took the chest and bed guards out of other caravans sitting on the forecourt, so if you buy one and its got bits missing...sorry!

What muppets.

Nicky
