My Pegasus has arrived at the dealers, what do I need to look out for in the handover?

Check everything. Fit and finish is most important. Cupboard doors locker lids, catches etc. Sometimes these are the annoying things that have been overlooked, and should have been checked over on the PDI by the dealer prior to you collecting.

They do say that all services have been checked prior to you collecting, check these ASAP when you can. Apart from the obvious any damage faults etc it should be ok. Don't let your excitement cloud your judgement, if it don't look right get it sorted there and then. In other words it's your money and don't part with it till your happy.

Enjoy

Mick

Surely everything should have been checked in the PDI, I'd just make sure I was hapy with the clealiness & prsentation of the caravan & enjoy it. We've always found the odd thing to be done at service time on our new vans over the years but lucky for us nothing untoward stuck out at handover. I hope you enjoy your new van.

For others waiting for their new toy I recommend downloading the "Owners Manual" for the Alu-Tech range.

http://www.bailey-caravans.co.uk/brochures-and-handbooks/current-handbook/

That way you will know a lot about them.

Make sure, before you drive off, that someone hasn't parked their car on the roof and  there isn't a bloke up there as well!!!

Hi spideygiry, congratulations on your new van, hope you enjoy it, as JTQU recomends download the owners hand book, will help you get to know a little bit more of your van, anything your are not clear about no matter how silly it sounds, ask your dealer to explain it, as un asked questions will only niggle away at you. Try out DC eletrics, and when hooked up,all the running lights,as you would do for a trip, I know that sounds daft, but in the exitment of picking it up you forget alot of things, make a list of things to ask, and on the day if thing are not working, get it fixed there and then, as its very annoing after taking it home only to discover it needs to go back for something silly to be fixed, all this aside enjoy your new van.

If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong
If in Doubt Check it Out.

Hi spideygirl.  It seems ages ago now that you decided in favour of the Pegasus over the Sancerre.  It's been a long time coming, but enjoy it.

Take your time and if it is not right then don't take it.Check everything closely.Check that all the blinds open and close smoothly.Don't forget the skylight ones.Check where the pipes come in through the floor. Are there any gaps? We could see the ground through a hole in the back of the wardrobe. They dealt with it there and then. Somebody came from the workshop.Trims were missing, they replaced those also.Is there excess sealant on the outside or inside the windows? Check the door and cupboard catches.Don't be afraid of asking for things to be done. Once you have taken the van then you will be dealing with aftersales. Most vans will be OK but we have had two new vans . The first one we didn't check thoroughly, I wish we had.The second time, we were a pain to deal with but the handover chappie understood.

I'm sure your new  van will be fine. Enjoy!

Thanks DSB.  It seems such a long time, but I am very excited about it (get it on the 5/2).  My OH is really nervous about the neighbours ! and the towing!

Hi

Check your awning rail, ours had some mastic left in it. Easily removed. Make sure all the doors draws etc open/close ok. Check light fittings are flush with the surface. Put the CD/radio on and check it all works. I read on another thread someones didn't work from both speakers. Check all the locks. Ask them to show you the bar that changes where you get the water from. 1 Onboard tank or 2 External supply. I still have not worked mine out.

I'm sure everything will be fine.  Best of luck and let us know how you get on.  So you'll be away for half term then!
