As said in one of my previous posts my van has not been used since october 08 can any one recommend what to use to flush the system out with and any tips
use milton for the normal water system, mix it up in aqua roll then just use it as if it was normal water, leave it in the pipes for an hour or so, then wash the system through with fresh water and for to toilet you could get fenwicks toilet cleaner.

oxfordboy, ive never heard that but that doesnt mean its not so, ive not had a problem with it, but it also might depend on what you water tank is made of.
If you drain down your hot water system, why would you want to purify it?
You are hardly going to use that side of the system for drinking water from.
Like, I can see the point of sterilizing my tanks and the cold water pipes, but I would not dream of doing the same to my hot water heater. It darn near boils the water anyway.
Hi compton51 Andy, I always flush hot and cold systems, as any residual water in pipes could have bacteria in them, and any bacteria in hot water system between heater and tap would not be killed off on the initial start of the hot water running to tap, the initial cold run to hot would carry bacteria to you washing up basin, and when water runs hot enough it will kill any bacteria in the system. I sterilies and leave fluid in system for an hour then run all fluid out via taps, then flush through with fresh water till water container is empty. better be safe than sorry.
------------- If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong
If in Doubt Check it Out.
Puriclean is designed for the job, it's safe for cold and hot water systems and isn't expensive £2 - £3, and doesn't leave aftertaste when used correctly so why even bother with something that might or might not be ok, Use Puriclean it's the right gear for the job.
------------- Doing as little as possible for as much as possible...
i always use milton as its safe for baby bottles.fill all the system as normal and leave it in for one hour then flush with cold water,a cup of milton to a 40 ltr barrel is fine for this job.don't forget the filler pipe needs cleaning too.more than one hour is not recommended as stainless tanks do not like milton.for the toilet tank use fenwicks fendox diluted.i also use diluted fendox to clean the fridge.i now do my pump as well with a stronger mix after a freeze up had shown some awful stuff coming out of the pump itself.
