Sorry if this seems a daft question, but does anyone have shelves in their overhead lockers? We've only been away for a couple of short breaks and it seemed to me that I would be able to organise clothes etc a lot better if there were shelves rather than having to stack things up in huge piles. I've done a search but can't find anything...what does everyone else do?

I have put extra shelves in the lockers of our Swift. Fortunately the structure of the lockers is supported by plastic members that have a ready made place for shelves. Swift provide shelves in some lockers but not all. I imagined to get extra shelves from Swift would be fairly expensive. I therefore made use of some spare pieces of laminate flooring cut to size and edged with a groved wooden edging available in B&Q. Seems to work OK.

I have made and fastened plywood shelves into some of the lockers by gluing battens onto the side walls of the lockers. As you say it makes packing clothes much easier.

I've just had a look at your site, really impressive, will definitely be one I'll be returning to!

I noticed you're in MK, we lived in Fenny Stratford before moving to Norfolk 3 years ago. We loved it there, great for families and such a great location in the centre of the county, we really miss it (although Norfolk is a great place too)

Thanks janus/Bill hubby fancies some thinnish plywood - glad it wasn't just me being awkward - that's another job for him :-)

Thanks for the kind comments about the website. We have been in MK for 30 years now and we also like living here.

I have added a photo of what I did in one of the lockers. As Bill mentioned they also need a batten at the back to give extra support.

My husband put in shelves made from thin plywood with veneer strip edging.  He used some left over kitchen shelf brackets (very small metal right angles) so that I could take the shelf out easily if necessary.

Could you use a couple of these?  They are lightweight 16" length x 9" width x 6" height

where did you find those ???

dh has made some shelves to fit cut to the same size as the 2 that we had when we got the van he used plywood and plastis edging

These look good, I will have to wait and measure my cupboards.
