Hi

We have i think its called Omni aerial which is useless.

A directional aerial would be better I feel, I have seen image ones etc with mast etc, are these any good if not any recomendations

We mount ours on the jockey wheel  and got the fittings off ebay. gets a good picture.

 but I'm wondering which way to point in in different parts of the country!

i use a dish/sky now but if i use the aerial i just go outside and see where all the others are pointing.as a rule it works.

I will lookinto my omni aerial more as only had the van since Aug and never been able to get a picture.

Don't forget you need to retune the TV everytime too !!!

(We thought our aerial was useless until we found AUTOTUNE !)

I put a POI (Points of Interest) file of all the transmitter locations on my Tomtom sat nav. Get it from:

You have to register.  The POI file for Freeview TV Transmiters is Under 'Special interest'  If you try to navigate from your position on site to the nearest transmitter you can judge the required direction.

I also have a list of all channel names etc on my sat nav  from here: http://www.wolfbane.com/ukdtt.htm

This gives me vertical or horizontal polarisation etc.

We just look at what direction other people are pointing theirs and take it from there.

If you don'tknow where the transmiiter is try one of these.

i have tv dongle with lappy works well and has signal strength but nothing with omni aerial in the van so ill check the areial out
