Horses for courses really...Skips are dealt with by different legislation. You have to comply with the right legislation for the issue you are dealing with. I have mentioned the Regulations for caravan lighting. Lighting of Skips is dealt with by Section 139 of the Highways Act 1980; Section 65 of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 and the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 1981. Skip lights tend to be called road danger lamps (flashing amber lamps) and must be attached to each roadside corner of the skip.
So if you are attaching anything to your caravan, as I said earlier, it needs to comply with the right regs, or modify your electrics to use the lights already fixed.
Do you think that the powers that be are trying to stop folks parking their vans on the street?
