My daughter is looking for a starter van and has looked at an Adria 400B 1993 van, we haven't checked it out for her yet but her OH's mate went through it with a damp detector and found a bit at the front, which I suppose is top be expected in a van of that age, he felt that if that was all there was after the weather we have had it isnt too bad.
Daughter was pleased with the van as she felt it looked bright and clean with no carpets to fuss about and small enough for her to tow herself if her OH couldn't get the weekend off
The seller has accepted a verbal offer of £1,300 for the van with a nearly new awning water carriers and hook up cable. We haven't a clue about current prices but it seems OK to me, any advice anyone ?
tbh if the van has damp i would walk away.Small damp areas can sometimes lead to bigger problems that are unseen. There are plenty of dry starter vans out there for probably less money if you bide your time.

I know what you mean Dreadnought, but at present there's not a lot on the market in our area for the price she wants to pay as she isn't sure she'll take to the camping life, I advised her to wait till nearer Easter, but tbh I think most vans of that age will have a degree of damp...or am I wrong about that.
I'm not sure what type of damp detector it was timtheenchanter but we are going at the weekend to have a look at it for her, my OH wants to have a look at where the damp was detected, but we don't want to trail up there if the van is overpriced. Thanks for replies
I suppose its a realistic price for the 'van as described, but in veiw of the damp the seller should let it go for a £1000. While caravans of this age might have some damp, it don't mean the damp should be left. If it is the whole caravan could end up as scrap. If they buy it I hope they have the diy skills to at least ascertain the extent of the damp & fix if required.
