I like the current system and personally don't think there should be a limit on any bookings. If for instance, I am limited to having 6 weekends booked at any one time, then what's stopping me booking them all at Chatsworth, or Roundtree or wherever. Some sites are popular and will always be fully booked at weekends due to demand.
The only improvement I felt would be better and fairer and would avoid the December scrum was to have a rolling year for all bookings.
Just my humble opinion......
Shirley.

One of the advantages of the clubs booking system for us now is being able to cancell without penalties if things are not going to plan at this end. Having long term health problems occasionally means having to change our plans and stay home at the last min if im not well enough to travel. we have been lucky up to now with only one booking out of seven ending up like that.
I recently found a site (Shell island) that doesnt take any bookings at all, and its on a first come first served basis, but i think thats taking it to the far extreme, and i cannot see that working for the club sites. it is annoying though when you want to book a longer stay and find you have to move on at the weekend because of all the pitches being booked up in theory, only to find there are spaces on the day. It happened to us on Broadlands last year where we had to book to move onto a CL up the road for the weekend, then return on the Monday, only to find that by 8pm on the Saturday night the site was half empty with plenty of pitches available due to no shows.
For this season we have planned and booked our 2010 trips well in advance, all using CC sites for gauranteed good disabled facilities and the option to cancell easily if we genuinely cannot make it, This was one of the attractions of returning back to caravanning for us amoungst other things after loosing quite a large sum of money the year before when we had to cancell a package holiday right at the last min and found that our travel insurance didnt cover the cost of the holiday if cancelled within 7days of departure,
Julia
