I've never had mine touched in the 3 years of owning one I suppose if you were worried you could attach a chain on the frame of the panel (all depends on the type of frame) & the other to the A frame & padlock it both ends.

The suction pad idea sounds a good idea do they fair well in a strong wind? The reason I ask is my caravan's a folder so when it's set up popping it on the roof could be a different approach.
As regards to myself saying chaining it up my solar panel I brought mine & made up my own frame to which a chain could be used but in my experience I never have needed to. I find most people on sites look out for each other.
I use a 7 foot long cycle security cable. It loops on itself around a bit of the van or car; wheel spoke punched hole in steady, handle etc depending where its sited.
The other end is secured to the panel frame with a small pad-lock via in my case a pre-drilled hole in the frame.

definitely as they only work when they are out and the time it is out is what makes them viable.
A little charge over a long time = something worth having.
You are also likely to be out during times of peak yield.
