Last week we had 2 viewings on caravans, on the way to the first one we were 10 mins away from their home when we were informed by a phone call that they had sold the van!!!, needless to say I was not very happy and the air alittle blue.
The second viewing went well but the van was not for us - it was too small.
We have not long got back from shopping to find an email from the people we were seeing tomorrow to say they have sold the van to someone else. The viewing was made for tomorrow because they said they were working today and it would be best for them if we cold go tomorrow.
So I am now on a downer, I get so excited that we are going to find our perfect van just to be let down by these thoughtless people.
I appreciate they want to sell but why do they have to be so thoughtless?
Problem is you may have many people wanting to see, you dont put any off as some may not turn up at all, and you sell to the first one who agrees to buy, what else can you do?
I suspect you were asked to leave it a day while a first buyer had seen and bought or not, or even not turn up.

When I phoned it had literally just gone "live" on the internet and she said we were the first to call about it.
I'm more annoyed because it was them who made the viewing day because they said they were working today so by the time they had got home it would have been too late to view.
Dont worry, there will be other vans. Why dont you put a wanted ad in your local press and then it is you who can decide when to view at a time to suit you.Its a lot less stressful buying a van this way instead of racing to view a van before someone else gets there.

Not sure what you expect them to do. They want to sell the van - they have got a willing buyer - are they supposed to say sorry can't sell it to you cos I got this other bloke who may buy it when he see's it.
How will viewer number one feel about that ? how will the seller feel if you look but don't buy?
At least they had the decency to phone and tell you that they had sold it.You would've been even madder if you went all the way there and they told you on the doorstep.

as the saying goe's , a bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush , at least they called to let you know , i have tried to sell vans in the past and some do not even turn up ,and they do not have the decency to call and let you know
Well perhaps others dont have the same values as I do. If I have sold things in the past, and someone has asked for it and is coming to have a look I tell others callers that someone is looking first, then call as necessary, I would never treat people like that, I treat people as I would like to be treated, and I expect others to abide with what they say. Perhaps I am too honest and nieve.

You will find none more honest and honourable than me but I am not naive.
i sold my teardrop to some great people fron yorkshire i did put 3 others on hold said that it may be sold before they were able to look .I am afraid first come first served that is life!
We have the opposite problem. We have just ordered a new van, but have chickened out of trying to sell ours privately.
Ours is in secure storage, so the nightmare of inviting people to meet us as the storage and perhaps turn out to be tyre-kicking time wasters is very off-putting. The difficulty of doing that during daylight hours is also a bit of a problem.
Plus, we feel dubious about taking a large payment from a complete stranger and completing the transation safely. What if a buyer were to trouble us after the sale, over some problem they encountered with the van?
I guess its never bloomin easy whichever side of the fence you are on.
I hope you find the 'right' van for you soon. Once you have, you will realise that all those failed viewings were 'meant to be'.
no offence intended but its possible the first seller had a few tmewasters and didnt want to take a chance when an offer was made.
yeah it sucks but its life.opposite happened for us with our van.we seen the ad phoned the seller and was informed someone was n their way from edinburgh and had arranged to be there for 10.30/we said fine and arranged to go at 11am with a fone call had first person bought it.we turned up 10.55 van was still there first viewer hadnt turned up.we liked it and bought it.11.20 first guy turned up,he had took a wrong turning and got lost took him a while to find it.by that time we had handed over a deposit and shook hands on the deal.
again it was tough on the guy but his fault at the end of the day

You phone & arrange to see 'van tomorrow. In meantime somebody turns up, veiws van, pulls out a wad of £20s & offers to pay & tow away. Do you seriously expect seller to say "sorry I have somebody coming to see 'van tomorrow?"
"The second viewing went well but the van was not for us - it was too small". Would you have expected a seller to have turned down an earlier cash offer to hear you say that?
