Im looking to buy a used awning for our van, is there anything  I need to look for apart from the obvious mildew, damaged zips, torn skirt?

does anyone know if the big names have changed their zips in the last few years because we will be wanting an annex as well.

I would check for fraying around the beading as well.Really makes is hard to pull through the channel.Also check that all the little loops around the bottom are there and not torn or missing.

Make sure all the parts are there, not just poles but brackets etc.  I didn't (first awning) and then had to make calls to Dorema, who were very helpful, to get the missing bits.  Thank goodness we took cable ties!!

Check it really is the size the owner believes it to be.

If Isabella it ought to be lightly stencilled on inside of roof on both side panels, close to awning rail and side pieces.

We have had a very successful 2nd hand awning purchase. Saved a mint on a brilliant awning.

just look for the obvious and the people that are flogging it. Do they look genuine & plausible?

If you inspect it in minute detail you will find issues. You are not buying new! expect some wear & tear commensurate with the price you are going to pay.

does anyone know if the zips have changed over time on the bigger names, like I said I will be wanting an annex for it (maybe not immediatly) and want to know if any from the same manufacturer will fit?
