Ok let's pretend it's sunny...or remember back when the sun DID SHINE

If you have a choice of pitches, do you ever consider which way to face/place your awning?

Do you prefer to have your awning on the side that catches the morning sun, and is then in the shade during the evening?

Or do you prefer to have the awning to face south/southwest direction to sit in the last rays of the day?

On which side should one pitch the awning? On the outside, of course!

Has to be, the longest side facing south so we get the sun all day.

Oh I really hope we do get a very sunny summer.

Remember the summers of '76 and '77 ?

johnks - very well said, we've had some lovely sun yesterday and today but boy what a cold wind and also a few snow/hail showers. I just want some pleasantly warm sunshine.

As for which way to pitch awning - we always look for a pitch that gives some sun either early or late. If its warm and sunny we would be outside awnyway and not in the awning!

The first thing I do when arriving on a site is to look at which way the trees bend, you can then usually work out which side to put your awning so that it gets the least battering from any wind

Don't Know about anbody else its not the positioning of the caravan that the problem its getting a pitch in the first place, on site you want.

As for us Its a case of stop, un -hitch, setup van, get wine out enjoy, move chairs to follow sun if need be. Lifes too short to worry about the wind direction and best sun during the day.
