Just got my Bailey Ranger 550/6 out of winter storage and testing everything before going away next weekend and I discovered my Water Pump isn't working (was working perfectly before winter. I have checked the fuse - this is okay,I have adjusted the pressure switch - no difference, so I checked the voltage at the pump - 0 volts, nothing. I wired 12v to the pump & the pump works fine, I have checked for damage to the cable from the pump to the circuit breaker/fuse box and this is fine. Would a faulty pressure switch prevent power to the pump, if so how could I test this (what condition is expected at the terminals)? or could this be a fault in the fuse box? Any advice please.

It sounds like you haven't got something switched on like the car/van switch , also check the supplying voltage to the caravan pump socket .

I was going to say the same thing. Have you remembered to turn it on?

sounds like a fuse has blown, when the pump has been stood for some time they can stick.when you switch on the first thing to go is the fuse because the impeller is not turning. clean both terminals on each side of the pump housing.

There is a seperate 10A fuse for the pump. Also a switch for the pump. Also the pressure switch might have gone.

Shortly after I bought our caravan the waterpump supplied with the van died overnight - was working when we went to bed, was broken when we got up. I now carry a spare - not cheap, but a complete pain if it goes on site and you face a long trip to a dealer.

Thanks for the replies everyone but....

Tested the voltage at the switch - 0 volts, all the switches are turned on so I checked the 10A fuse, this is fine. Wired 12v directly to the pump and this works, so the only assumption I have is the pressure switch is faulty and therefore preventing voltage to the pump, I was wandering if my assumption is along the right lines????

No wires disconnected, I have had the fuse box apart to check, but this is spaghetti junction, everything looks fine. My thoughts are either a fault in the fuse box or pressure switch faulty???

Seeing as the pressure switch is just a switch ( not taking the micky here ) could you just by pass the switch with a piece of wire to test , or check the supply going to the switch as this should be reading 12 volts all the time .

I have a similar problem. Neither my water pump, lights or the battery charger are working on my Bailey Ranger 550/6.
Also there is no movement in the 12v switch display (showing zero). All these appliances run off 12 volts. All fuses have been checked. Now the battery is flat. Any ideas plse?

its possible your charger has failed.and the reason your battery is flat.your 12 volt should work without a battery connected. is your EHU cable working ie.do you have 240v to the lights, plugs ect?they have been known to fail.check all 15 and 10 amp fuses.

I'd agree with Wizard and will be interested to learn of result. Pressure switch does simply switch the 12v when lower pressure dedected and can easily be by-passed to prove by pulling spade fittings off and linking together temporarily.
