I am in the process of using co-ordinates with my Sat Nav, I believe there are 3 ways of entering these co-ordinates onto my TomTom but i wish to use 1 common format.
For example if you look Google Earth you can drop a pin to say the entrance of a touring site and will then show you the co-ordinates at the bottom of the page, I wish to trnasfer these co-ordinates to the simplest format as per the Eurotunnel Webste.
Does anyone know of a good but simple program that can convert these co-ordinates..
Surely you would be better off downloading POI's for campsites which are downloadable from numerous sources including the Caravan Club. Archies sites is excellent for European campsites. These can be downloaded onto TomTom via TomTom Home.

If you only want to convert co-ordinates infrequently, you could use Streetmap.
As an example, I entered the postcode of where I live to retrieve the map. You can find the co-ordinates in lat/long, numerical eastings & northings and OS Landranger format by clicking at the bottom of the map on "here" (just below the white down arrow).
If you want to read the co-ordinates off in a different format on Google Earth, click Tools (in G.E.), Options, and then select whatever read-off you want.
Hi Zipster......you could use Tyre in conjuction with Google Earth and save to your Tom Tom from http://www.tyre.tk/ I know a few of the vanners on this site use it as well.
If you google multimap and put the red marker where you want to be. Go down the page and it gives you the longtitude and latitude in both formats. Hope this helps.
There is another way of marking any point on a Google map and getting from it the precise co-ordinates. It may sound a bit convoluted but once you get used to it it’s quite quick and very accurate.
On the Google map find the precise point for which you want the coordinates. Double click on that point and it will put that point exactly in the middle of your map.
When you’ve centred the exact point go to ‘link’ which is just above the map on the extreme right. Left click on that and there’ll be a box which has highlighted text ready to copy and paste. Paste it into a document program like Notepad or Word and you’ll have a string like this:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=53.698363,-1.265834&ie=UTF8&ll=53.69836,-1.265824&spn=0.000308,0.000846&t=h&z=21
The coordinates which I’ve put in bold, just before &spn will take you to the middle of the windscreen of a white van parked in Ferrybridge Services. (or at least where the white van was!)
As I say, it sounds much more complicated than it is but I use it a lot before we go on holiday to make sure that I have exact co-ordinates for the places we’ll be visiting. I use POI as well of course.
