Is there any form of etiquette in place when two vehicles towing caravans meet on a narrow road?Just wandered if theres an age old tradition to decide who gives way and reverses to a passing place or do we just stare each other down 'til one driver bottles it.thanks.

DUMBAR Scotland i do not know if the site has moved now,it was on the cards.we came out of there not too fast and got to about 25 mph and it is a very narrow road.just wide enough for the car and van.it does have passing places.if you do not know the road it is very narrow with short hills up and down,so much so you can not see what is approaching the site.i went over one hill and was head on with another unit coming the other way.i slammed on hard to avoid a collision.because i had no room to maneuver he had to reverse a long way back to the passing place.when we got to the other site i discovered i had braked so hard it had snapped both hinges from the cooker hood and they were half inch across.it must happen once a week on that road for sure.

Thats what i would try to do but this Freedom is the worst trailer ive ever had to reverse with.I say its because its really short, but the wife says ive lost my touch.

no you are correct, dont tell the wife i said this.i used to make my own trailers many years ago but you will find the smaller the trailer the harder it is to reverse because there is not as much drag and they turn sharper.once made a little 4.5 foot square trailer and that was a pig to reverse.

Generally one of you will see the other caravan comng above the hedge and get into a convenient passing place ready for when you meet. It's very rare that one will have to reverse.
