We are changing our caravan after 10 years - will miss our avondale terribly but very excited about the new van - Swift Challenger 540 2009 nearly nearly brand new!!!

The awning size given is 987 I think thats size 14 - would a slightly smaller one fit? also what are tuscany awnings like and also quest ? Never had to buy one before they have always been in with the caravan along with everything else its a lot of money all this but good fun!!

hi marylou. got a new tuscany awning free with our caravan 4 yrs ago and its still going strong. use it mostly on north antrim coast which can get very windy at times and have never had a problem. for approx £350 i would definately recommend them.

First thing I'd advise is to forget the size as these are manufacturer sizes and do differ greatly between manufacturers. Measure and buy your awning instead using the caravan A size it is a lot more accurate and will fix you up with the correct awning the first time.

As for a slightly smaller one fitting - I suppose they will but will possibly look like your caravan's grown out of it's awning but it depends on why you are thinking of a slightly smaller awning (we're looking at a 2nd hand awning that could be about 6" short each end for this year and then buying a new one next year - we've been spending a lot this year on the new-to-us van we have )
