well, here goes.Ive sat on this for a week or so now & given the problems a chance to be sorted but following a phone call with the dealer earlier i cant keep it quiet anymore.

We discovered an area of inner wallboard in the washroom had started to crack over an area of 80sq mm, vertical cracks close together . Hard to see at first but in certain light looks shocking. This along with a few minor trim issues meant we took the van back to the dealer to be sorted.

Now the dealer says Bailey want the van back at the factory (at a convenient time for us --like there is one ??? ) to be repaired and needless to say we are NOT happy.

We are going to the dealer tomorrow to collect the van after the trim problems were sorted but we are seriously considering rejecting the van on the basis of this wallboard cracking and the inconvenience of losing our van for at least another couple of weeks.

so all you Pegasus owners , keep an eye on the inner walls for ANY abnormalities , crazing, splitting, cracking because ours appeared virtually overnight

your views folks...fire away !!!!!!!

I don't think you can now reject the van without giving them a chance to sort the problem out.  80mm is a very small area (1/4 sq. in. ).  Do you mean 80mm square?

thanks for the advise, we are going to look at our peggy 554 over the weekend with an issue with the trim over the joint in the ceiling over the lounge area, advised by the dealer and Bailey to use 'no nails' as a 400 mile round trip back to the dealer is too much. Will be checking for any other issues whilst we are there, will let you know!

Presumably that's "no more nails". If that's what Bailey are using elsewhere in the 'van, I'd hate to think how they could ever dismantle and reuse panels if they had to.

Sorry to hear about your problems, hope you get things sorted.  I did think though when I read all this hype about the fantastic new construction method, is this 'van now going to be too rigid, and therefore cause problems similar to the ones you have experienced. Surley there has to be some amount of "give" in the construction of caravans.

I wasn't saying it was acceptable, any defect when new isn't acceptable.  Bailey will have to fix it under warranty.

i dont know mate .the cracked area is between the washbasin and window on the rear panel so unsure if its stress related, suppose thats why bailey want it back down at the works..the dealer seems to think its a defect in the manufacture of the panel .ive got photos somewhere on the pc but unsure how to upload onto here or whether it would be the right thing to do at this moment.

totally p****d off right now with the whole thing, just dont need the hassle of backward and forward to dealers and losing van for "x" weeks and the hassle of shifting all our gear out & storing it somewhere.

Bailey have offered to fix your van back at the factory and the repair will be done under warranty. I think that is fair and they are actually dealing with the problem as they should.

When you have paid this sort of money for a van the dealer and the manufacturer should be falling over themselves to sort ant problems out - however, yet again they all seem to make the customer feel like they have to jump through hoops to get THEIR (the manufacturers) problems sorted.

I've come to realise once you have parted with your hard earned dosh you don't matter.

I'm sorry bev+jon, I know my rant doesn't help you - I really hope you get a satisfactory outcome.

Sorry to hear you having a problem after all the hype, however, problem shared etc! Although the peggy is a 'revolutionary new design' surely all the 'thorough' testing that has been done should have picked up on stress fractures? shouldn't have to wait for customers, who've parted with their hard earned money, to find these faults for them!!!! not good enough Bailey!!  Hope we don't encounter anything when we pick our 534 up next week. Our dealer seem to be very accomodating at the moment with good reputation for customer after care service. Lets hope we don't have to put it to the test.

well put it this way , ive got tickets for the caravan show at the NEC so it could be interesting at the Bailey stand if things dont go well........

i know it will probably turn  out ok in the end but i dont want OUR new van dragged the length of the country , perhaps knocked about, taken apart & thrown together again then dragged back.

it wont seem like OUR new van anymore , its all tarnished now, spoilt and no getting away from that hence the replace or reject scenario
