when or what year did cassette loo,s come into play? was checking out a fleetwood cavalier 2 berth, owner said it was early 90,s am thinking early 80,s maybe has all else though, dglazing, etc!
no i agree, thats what i said, hardest part is just buying a damp free one, so fingers crossed, we are torn between a swift and a fleetwood, al tho swift seems that wee bit more modern, with cassette loo and awning etc, just worried because people call them a soggy swift.. all though this one seems in great nic for age.
My brother's 1989 Abbey GT214 has a cassette loo. I think they probably appeared in higher spec vans first. The cassette loo is a very worthwhile thing to have; much better than the porta-potty. I'm sure they are available for retrofit.
aye see since this will be our first van we are trying to buy the right thing! all though we dont want to spend a fortune at first, we still dont wana buy a van thats way too old and dated either, would like early mid 90,s if possible....
Hi, our first caravan was a Lunar Sunbeam, the model year was a 1991 and this had an electric cassette toilet (very posh for its day) and also it was CRIS registered. CRIS was not put into play until 1992 but ours came with CRIS from new, so some manufacturers were already doing CRIS before it was necessary/compulsary.
Our 1989 Swift does not have a cassette toilet although they were available at the time as an extra. We've had it from new and although it shows damp on a damp meter does not have any soft spots on the wallboards or a springy floor. We did have the area around the roof light repaired last year. It is serviced annually.
