If you do decide to go down the fitted road then give Plumbs a call, they make loose fitted covers for all furniture types and they have ahuge range of fabrics to choose from. The other idea would be to buy some fleece material by the yard and make large pillowcase type covers for each cushion on your sewing machine, i found that they tend to stay put better than just ordinary blankets especially if you have active children and dogs around. Again the fabric can be bought in a variety of colours and designs from Dunhelm, the last i bought was £4 a mtr and its about 60ins wide.

Wasn't there a series in the CC mag about a car writer (Danny Cobbs?) who bought a cheap car and 'van.  He had the 'van upholstery replaced with zip-on covers.  Anyone elaborate?

I recovered all our caravan cushions, so I'm not surprised it's expensive.  It takes ages to match patterns, and get a proper tight fit.  Ours looks lovely now, but all it cost me was £1 a metre for the fabric, and my time.  Oh and a few long zips, which weren't cheap either plus some sets of buttons that you can cover with your own fabric.

I am in the beginning stages of making my own covers - got as far as making the paper patterns!!

Stupid thing is I'll probably put throws over them too!!!!

I bought sheeting to make covers for our cushions, mainly because we have dogs and I can take them off and wash them.

Used pop fastners instead of zips.
