Saw a caravan on ebay (2003 Bailey Pageant Vendee) we telephoned about it so off we go to view we live in south yorkshire the caravan was in great yarmouth

we was given the address of cherry tree holiday park ? i went in to there reception to be told we are not a touring site and have no tourers for sale. alarms bells start to ring

so i emailed these people for them to say the van is across the road in a storage yard so these people came we looked around the van wife liked it so a deal was done! while we was looking his wife said to my dad we have done touring this is our last van??

but i am not in the habit of handing over £5500 without doing some checks so off we go for a chat saying will see you in a couple of days with the money so we go for a cuppa wife nagging me (better not lose it) so i phoned the seller offering to go round to the house with a deposit he said NO he wanted all the money together alarm bell 2

after we got home i went on ebay he had 2 more caravans for sale alarm bell 3

time to test i thought wait couple of days phoned them up i have the money he said no problem  i will see you down the yard later i said no i am not buying a caravan from a yard i said take to your house i will he said  and i want the cris number he said no prob i will ring you in an hour he said i am still waiting for the call i tried phoning phone turned off

within the hour he removed all the items of ebay but not before my neice phoned about a car he was selling and he gave us the address which is now in the hands of his local police after a few days he was at it again caravans on ebay

i also reported him to ebay with no success it seems. BEWARE am i in my right to put is user name on ?

 I would get the VIN number or chassis number and give CRIS a call and check things out.

Go with your instincts...If it smells fishy.... it probably is

the storage yard had no name on it but it was very secure camera high fence ??

We were looking at I believe the same van on ebay, rung to request the VIN - he eventually rang back and left the VIN on the answer phone, he then later rang and spoke to husband giving a different VIN (not even for a Bailey) I don't think he twigged he had given us 2 different VINs until we rang back to ask - this set my mind thinking as he was claiming to only have the one van (his own one) but had had to get the VIN as the van was in storage so how come we now had 2!!!

When we did the checks it came back as having outstanding HPI even though he had put on the ad HPI clear and the address didn't tie in. We went very quiet on him, that was enough to put me off (plus the fact that he kept changing the asking price on ebay). I thought I would keep a watch on it on ebay and noticed that he changed the listing to put that he was selling it from a friend - change of story but it could I guess have been true and he just hadn't told us this in the first instance, price changed again and the info changed again to remove the friend link. Ad then vanished, and now I guess I know why he was amazed to have 92 watchers and no one going to see the van! lol

The first time I saw it listed on ebay was for about £5300 which kinda worried me as it was so cheap, within days it was increased to around £6300, then £5 knocked off it, finally down to about £5750, why the changes in price so often???

Could all be unlucky surmising but was enough to put us off!
