I was hoping to see a thread on this event by now but it hasn't happened. We're off to the NEC show on Saturday, any advice on the best time to get there. I was thinking of arriving around 10am but OH & kids have ideas of getting up at stupid oclock & heading off. We're taking a packed lunch so at least we've agreed on that.
The Show has been mentioned in this section, and also under TT, Camping under Canvas and Life in General, but don't worry about dashing up first thing in the morning - it doesn't open till 10am!
Packed lunch is a good idea, lightweight folding stools as well unless you want to sit on the floor or outside (usual passout handstamps are available).
Have a good day - don't forget your goody bags (Yeomans hall).

Thanks for that Bob, I was sure I'd seen it mentioned but I thought it was just someone wanting tickets. At least I've got my lay in back now they can see the place doesn't open until 10am. Get there 1030 -1100 that'll give the Que a chance to clear & with luck, we'll walk straight into the show.

We were supposed to be goin to the show tomorrow but went today instead...glad we did..not as busy as the weekends and we managed to look in most of the vans without any problems
We wanted to check out a mid sized awning that could sleep 2 people if need be...i had the Kampa Rally 390 in mind...we had a good look around it and was given a price and was happy..until we then went to see Mark of Camping International and he showed us the Outdoor Revolution Compactalite Pro 400. A very similar awning but with a better material and an even better price... so the deal was done....he always comes up trumps for us
We also got a stronger pole..so we can hopefully fly the dragon kite that we have.. without it dive bombing other peoples vans..lol
We couldnt come away without some beautiful tasting cheeses from The Snowdonia Cheese Company and of course..the Toffee Vodka *HIC*
All in all we are pleased with our purchases and had a great day out...but boy are my feet killin me...lol
We went today as i was offered free tickets at last minute great show eriba/hymer stand was excellent the new hymer feeling is amazing also the RS homes stand and Airsteam stand well worth a look loads of nice VW t5 camper conversions aswell got to see the adria 542dt with triple fixed bunks well impressed for the money most probley gonna be our nxt van when we outgrow the hymer.
We went today, my first time and with my free tickets courtesy of this site, and I was well impressed but oh my aching feet now! Very good show, lots of brilliant displays. Especially liked the new prototype which I think was just called "wotzthat", what a fabulous caravan.
Bought a few bits n bobs but wasn't tempted for a new caravan as we haven't used this one yet, bought her in December and can't wait to try her out when the weather's a bit warmer.
There's a small area in the hall with statics set aside for people with their own food. There areseveral tables and chairs so you don't need to sit on the floor!
We went yesterday on our way back home from London, as we missed our train connection at B'ham International by 6 minutes and had a 2 hour wait, that became 4 with the Show!
Not as crowded as I expected, but still some good offers around. Bought a water filter for the van, and joined the C & CC, but didn't really get a chance to look at many of the vans.
Had a wander around the narrow boats, as we have just given up our timeshare in one, and picked up some good details for our trip to Southern Brittany later in the year.
We went yesterday and was imprfessed with the quality of the Roma caravans. The Stealth stand you had to book an appointment to look inside so did not bother as it looked darn ugly from the outside. Wife's words and a I agree with her. Evenetually gave up at about 2:30 to come home. This time I hird a mobility scooter which made it more pleasant.
I always wonder why they have the disabled car park so far from the main entrance. On arrival at the junction of A46 & M42 we followed the signs for the NEC religiously and when we got to the car park we were told to turn around as the disabled car park was right on the other side so back down the A46 to the round about and then in another entrance to the NEC.
hi we went on wed really enjoyed it but after looking at loads of vans we came to the conclusion that there wasn't really any van that we would change ours for. the caravan and motor home stands were quite busy but the tent and boat section didn't seem very busy, i was impressed with a danish caravan mover that used a little remote controlled vehicle with caterpillar tracks but at £950 i thought it was too expensiv . the traffic coming back at 6 30 on the m6 north bound was terrible and the idea of useing the hard shoulder for an extra lane is crazy what will happen to anyone who's veihcle breaks down i don't know .
