For many years I have use the Caravan Club insurance but there are many companies out there that insure caravans. Perhaps a Google might throw up a few names.

If you get this months Caravan magazine there is an article on insurance and the diverse range of costs. For the same set of circumstances the costs range from about £191 to £500. Answer is to shop around but know exactly what you want to be covered for first

my insurance is £77 for the year on a 1989 compass rallye 570, but well worth the money if something happens to it.with caravan guard

I think its expensive (but a necessary expense) when you consider that

Car insurance is a lot less and the car can often costs more than the van.

Half the caravan thefts were committed by those four who are now inside so I assume that the risk of theft has diminished.

According to recent magazine reports caravan related accidents are 0.8% of accidents (or some stat like that) so not much risk there for an insurer.

We take our goods out (well possibly) when we are not touring.

Take the wheels off over winter.

Have all kinds of locks on the van, unlike our cars

....so we should pay a lot less shouldn't we?
