I think its expensive (but a necessary expense) when you consider that
Car insurance is a lot less and the car can often costs more than the van.
Half the caravan thefts were committed by those four who are now inside so I assume that the risk of theft has diminished.
According to recent magazine reports caravan related accidents are 0.8% of accidents (or some stat like that) so not much risk there for an insurer.
We take our goods out (well possibly) when we are not touring.
Take the wheels off over winter.
Have all kinds of locks on the van, unlike our cars
....so we should pay a lot less shouldn't we?
